Talent spotting!

This Sunday’s BBC 1 Songs of Praise was recorded with some members of our congregation participating.  See how many of them you can spot!

Can you help?

Ever wanted to read the lesson? Be a Server? Or a Sidesperson? If you can help please tell the Vicar or wardens you are interested.

The Finances of St Anne's

Many members of St Anne's know that for several years the day-to-day operating costs of running our church have been greater than our regular income.  Until now we have been fortunate in having the Legacy Fund on which to draw and which has enabled us to fund the deficit.  However, the Legacy Fund is now almost fully spent and, very shortly, will no longer be available to us. The PCC has reduced expenditure as far as it is able - the annual cost of St Anne's is around £70,000; that is £200 for each day of the year.  This year, our income is likely to be around £50,000, resulting in a deficit of £20,000.  The only way of addressing this is to increase our income and the PCC has concluded that much of this can only come through increased giving by our congregation.  More information on how this will be addressed will be provided over the next few weeks, culminating in a stewardship service on Sunday 25th November.

The Children’s Society

I am collecting The Children’s Society boxes and would like to thank all who gave so generously last year. The total was a marvellous £489.78.  A booklet at the back of Church describes the work of the Children's Society. Please bring your box to Church or I can collect . Many thanks,   Janice Coyle.   I have spare boxes if anyone would like one, so please let me know.

Thank you from Margaret

Dear Friends
A very big thank you for all your kind words of appreciation and gifts last Sunday.  I have been overwhelmed by the depth of the love and support shown to me by so many people in recent months.  It has been a great privilege for me to lead the music and to minister among you for the last five years and I am sad that it has come to an end.   May God bless you richly in the future.  Love Margaret.

Lent Course 2012: Handing on the Torch

Christianity is the largest movement our world has ever seen. It continues to grow at an immense pace – especially in Asia (including China), Africa and Latin America.

At the same time, Christianity in the West struggles to grow and – perhaps – even to survive. In our Lent course for 2012 we will be considering some of the reasons for this and what it might mean for individual Christians, for churches and for Western culture, in a world where alternative beliefs are increasingly on offer.
The course will start on Thursday 1st March and run for 5 sessions.

More details can be found at the back of church with a sign-up sheet. If you wish to be part of what should be a very thought provoking course, please sign-up as soon as possible, so that the course materials can be ordered.

Lent Lunches

Lent lunches will be held on alternate Saturdays in the Church Centre from 12.30pm on March 3rd, 17th and 31st. A simple lunch of soup and bread will be served.

Donations for this will go to the Bishop’s Lent Appeal. All are welcome.
