Week commencing October 31

Christmas Singers

As is our custom, the Carol Service on Sunday December 19th at 6pm, will be led by our Christmas Choir. Anyone is welcome to join us. There will be no auditions, just an ability to have fun and to attend practices on Wednesdays at 7.30pm in church, on November 24th, and December 1st, 8th and 15th. If you are interested and/or would like more information, please ask me. Thank you.  Margaret

Splendid total raised

The NSPCC collection in Bagshot for 2010 raised the sum of £1,275. I would like to thank the box-holders who give so generously each year. Some of the money we raise is donated from the fees received by the Bellringers for weddings at St. Anne's. There are less than 20 subscribers to our annual collection so I feel that shows what an excellent amount is raised. Thank you very, very much.

Week Commencing October 24

Litter Pick is Call to Serve

As part of the new mission statement "For the Community, In the Community, Inspired by Christ" we have been looking for ways in which we can serve our village.

On Saturday 30th October a Parish Litter Pick party will be out with gloves, litterpick sticks and black bags working to tidy a patch of our parish.

We want to remind ourselves and everyone else that a Christian life is a calling to serve others in any ways we can. We also hope to raise the profile of our church and, God willing, chat about our faith and church to residents who do not normally have much contact with us.

Do you have a pair of stout gloves? Could you join us? We'll meet at 10am at the church centre and the more the merrier.

Do you have other ideas of how the church can serve and be seen more In The Community in the coming months?  Tell any one of the PCC.

Christmas Mini Market

The Christmas Mini Market takes place on Saturday 13th November in the Church Centre from 10-12noon, so do come and buy your Christmas presents and stop for a coffee and seasonal refreshments. There are new stalls this year, so please come and do bring your friends.

Donations of quality items such as stationery, jewellery, gifts and home-made produce may be left at the back of church. (Please, no bric-à-brac or clothing).

Baptisms

This afternoon Joshua Harry Dean, William Furst and Samuel Robert Newton are being baptised. Please pray for these children and their families as they start their Christian pilgrimage.

Surfing to St Anne’s

If you have not recently done so, please take a look at the new St Anne's website www.saintannebagshot.org.uk
We hope you'll find it an interesting read.  Abby is very keen to hear of suggestions of what you would like to see on it and glad to receive contributions.

Particularly, do look under the 'Day to Day' menu where you can check out our Diary page, where you will see details of the forthcoming services, social and other events in the church - right through into next year.  This is the definitive diary, so if it isn't there it might not be happening. Also, each week's Notices will be posted on the Notices page so if you don't get to church one week, you can use it to find out what you missed!

Confirmation catering

It is a great honour for us at St Anne’s to be host to this year’s Surrey Heath Deanery confirmations on Sunday 17th October when Bishop Ian will be confirming around 20 candidates. As the host parish it is also our pleasure to offer a reception after the event in the Church Centre. If you can assist, by baking a cake, for instance, or making sandwiches, please have a word with Eve Nightingale-Sharpe and June Hurst who are co-ordinating the food. There is a sign-up form at the back of church.

Cathedral Link person needed

Guildford Cathedral runs a Link Scheme whereby each parish and deanery is encouraged to appoint someone to keep in touch with the Cathedral. The Link Representative is the key person in developing and strengthening the relationship between the parish and the Cathedral. Every Link receives the Cathedral's bi-monthly diary giving them all the Cathedral news and information about events to publicise within the parish. In exchange, the Cathedral offers to publicise parish events. Each year the Links are invited to our Annual Links Meeting at the Cathedral which provides an opportunity for the sharing of information, opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions.

Elizabeth Rowbotham has been St Anne's Link with the Cathedral for the past 15 years and is now stepping down. I thank her for all she has done in the role for so long. We now need someone to step into her shoes. If you might be interested in taking on this small rôle for St Anne's, I would be delighted to hear from you. Alternatively, you could explore the Cathedral's website, especially their section about the Cathedral Links:

Samaritan’s Purse – Operation Christmas Child

Once again Eve is co-ordinating this. Can you decorate a shoe box with Christmas wrapping paper, fill it with small  age-appropriate items suitable for a child and bring the box to church? Or maybe you could give Eve a monetary donation so she can buy items to fill more boxes and also cover the cost of their transport to the Third World? Details in the leaflets at the back of church or please see Eve for more details. Last year 67 boxes were sent from St Anne’s. Let’s see if we can break that record. Deadline is 21st November.
